Barmek or Burmiak, North Bengal -Found a place to hide from madding crowd
Barmek or Burmiak is a small Himalayan village in Kalimpong hills. It is very close to Echey gaon. Mighty River Teesta & mesmerizing view of Mt.Kanchenjunga both are visible from here. It's located almost of 4800 ft. from sea level.
It is a small remote village near West Bengal - Sikkim border famous for Cinchona plantation.
Nearby Places-Ramdhura, Echey gaon, Dargaon & Rongli
You would also find some Buddhist Stupas (Chortens) on the nearby hilltop, from where you can savour a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. A stroll around the village will take you to a local school, a temple, terraced farms and more orange orchards.
Activities-
Trekking and bird watching are abundant and so is river rafting in the waters of Teesta. Angling can be enjoyed in Teesta just 08 kms away. You can always take a nature walk along the forest trails to the nearby Chortens on the hill top.
Getting There in Barmek-
Get down at New Jalpaiguri Railway station or Siliguri Bus Stop and then take NH-31A straight to Teesta Bazaar. From here you need to hire a car to take you to Burmiak or Barmek (around 62 kms away). The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport.
About Our Homestay-
We have four rooms, two in first floor & two in Ground floor, all are with view of Mountains & valley.Three rooms are four bed & 1 room is double bed.
Pocket pinch-
Rs.1500 per head per day with all meals.
