Kankrajhor-Belpahari is a paradise in the tropical, hilly forestlands of Midnapore. It comprises 9,000 hectares of hardwood trees including kusum, shaal, segun or teak, mahua and akashmani. Cashewnut, coffee and oranges are cultivated at Kankrajhor.Kankrajhor is just 25km from Ghatshila (Jharkhand) & 65 km from Jhargram. Nearby Dolma Hills are frequented by animals from Bihar, including tigers, leopards and elephants. Bears and wild boars regular stray to the hills in search of Mahua tree sap. The sap is a potent intoxicant in the region and is used to make country liquor.

How to Reach Kankrajhor-Belpahari:
From Jhargram, Belpahari is 45km on the bus route.10km past Belpahari is Bhulabheda where from one can go of 18 km to Kankrajhor. One can also walk to Ghatshila, just 22 kms from Kankrajhor.
By Train: The distance from Howrah to Jhargram station is 157 Kms and the journey takes three hours by train from Howrah.
Jhargram Railway Station is on the Kharagpur-Tatanagar section of Howrah-Nagpur-Mumbai line which is an express train route.
By Road: Jhargram is also very well connected by roads / highways with other nearby cities like Medinipur, Kharagpur, Durgapur, Asansol, Bankura, Purulia, Haldia, Contai, Digha, Kolkata / Howrah.

Best Time To Visit Belpahari
The best months to visit are from November to February . Additionally, the waterfalls are not too dry out of heat, as well as the lakes are not covered in fog because of the cold: this provides an optimal view all over.

Jhargram Raj palace
Jhargram Raj Place was founded around 1592 AD by Sarveshwar Singh who along with his elder brother were Generals under Man Singh of Amer and came to conquer Bengal when Emperor Akbar granted Subedar of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa to Raja Man Singh. Sarveshwar Singh belonged to the Chauhan clan of Rajputs from Fatehpur Sikri.
