Samsing-Suntalekhola in Dooars
It is a beautiful destination in the Dooars region of West Bengal adjacent to Neora Valley National Park. Samsing Suntalekhola, offers to the Travelers various adventurous options including trekking in Neora Valley National Park. The small hamlet is also known as the strawberry village of West Bengal. The travelers can enjoy the fresh fruits from the month of January to March. The place is also famous for Mandarin oranges. The best season to taste the oranges starts from October till December.
. It’s about 45-minute drive (23kms) from Murti via Chalsa. It’s full of dense forests, tea gardens and orange orchards. The river Murti originates at the nearby mountains and reaches the plains here. 5kms from Samsing is another small village also known for its pristine natural beauty with tea gardens, forests and orange orchards. There is a hanging (suspension) bridge here over Murti river which is a popular attraction for tourists. On the other side of the bridge is WBFDC forest rest house which has several cottages nestled in wonderful garden setting and surrounded by dense forest.
Rocky Island is a small village settlement located 3kms from Samsing. The Murti river flows through this place. In fact this is the place where the river comes down the hills and meets the plains. The place is beautiful and the village settlement has developed along the river bank. Altitude here is about 2,000ft.
Where to stay-There are several forest rest houses, lodges and homestays in Samsing, Suntalekhola and Rocky Island which are mostly budget options. You won’t find any luxury hotels in this part of Dooars.
